Car sales in China increased 4.7 percent in September from the same month a year ago, official data showed, boosted by more people buying discounted and new models ahead of key holidays.
Passenger vehicle sales totaled 2.04 million units in September, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said on Wednesday. The year-on-year rate of increase was higher than the 2.2 percent year-on-year rise in August, the data showed.
New energy vehicle (NEV) sales surged 22.1 percent in September from a year earlier, making up 36.6 percent of total car sales, and helping several local brands set record high sales. However, the growth slowed from a 34.5 percent jump in August.
Chinese EV forerunner BYD sold a record 287,454 NEVs in September. EV startup Li Auto also set a new monthly record with 36,060 vehicles delivered last month, a surge of 212.7 percent year-on-year.
September is traditionally a bumper month for car sales in China, partly because many people go on a shopping spree ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.
For the first nine months, sales in the world’s largest car market rose 2.1 percent to 15.41 million units.
Overseas markets remain an important growth area, as exports grew 50 percent in September year-on-year following a 31 percent gain in August, the data showed.
NEV exports more than doubled compared with the same month last year, totaling 91,000 units, accounting for 25.4 percent of the country's total passenger car exports. Among them, Tesla exported 30,566 China-made vehicles in September, up 57 percent from August, while BYD’s overseas shipments stood at 28,039.
Meanwhile, the National Administration of Financial Regulation (NAFR), China's newly integrated financial regulator, on Tuesday issued a document outlining measures to support the recovery in consumption, including boosting the auto market and lowering the cost of consumer finance.
The document highlighted policy support to further activate the domestic auto market, including optimizing and simplifying auto loan procedures, increasing the supply of financial services in the auto sector and granting more support in the NEV sector.
10月11日，乘联会发布数据显示，9月国内乘用车市场零售销量203.6万辆，同比增长4.7%，环比增长4.9%；1~9月累计零售销量1540.9万辆，同比增长2.1%。9月批发销量247.3万辆，同比增长6.2%，环比增长9.6%；1~9月累计批发销量1800.1万辆，同比增长6.2%。
新能源市场方面，9月新能源乘用车零售销量74.6万辆，同比增长22.1%，环比增长4.2%；1~9月累计零售销量518.8万辆，同比增长33.6%；批发销量82.9万辆，同比增长23%，环比增长4.2%；1~9月累计销量590.4万辆，同比增长35.9%。
乘联会数据显示，9月，随着自主车企在新能源路线上的多线并举，市场基盘持续扩大，厂商批发销量突破万辆的企业达到17家(环比增2家，同比增2家)，占新能源乘用车总量88.4%(上月87.2%，去年同期83.2%)。
在具体车企的批发销量方面，排名前十位的是：比亚迪286903辆、特斯拉中国74073辆、吉利汽车54472辆、广汽埃安51596辆、长安汽车42812辆、理想汽车36060辆、上汽通用五菱29129辆、上汽乘用车27057辆、长城汽车21868辆、小鹏汽车16076辆。
在出口方面，乘联会数据显示，今年9月乘用车出口（含整车与CKD）35.7万辆，同比增长50%，环比增长8%。其中新能源乘用车出口9.1万辆，同比增长107%，环比8月增长16%，占乘用车出口25.4%。伴随着中国新能源的规模优势和市场扩张需求，中国制造新能源产品品牌越来越多地走出国门，在海外的认可度持续提升，以及服务网络的不断完善，由此新能源出口市场仍然向好，前景可期。9月，厂商出口方面，位列前三位的是：特斯拉中国30566辆、比亚迪汽车28039辆、上汽乘用车12678辆。
10日，国家金融监管总局下发了《关于金融支持恢复和扩大消费的通知》。《通知》涵盖七方面共19条，包括了加大重点领域支持力度、支持扩大汽车消费、加大新型消费和服务消费金融支持、降低消费金融成本等。
其中，支持扩大汽车消费方面，提出要在依法合规、风险可控前提下，适当放宽汽车消费信贷申请条件，降低汽车贷款首付比例，延长贷款期限，合理确定信贷额度，降低汽车消费门槛。加大对二手车市场的金融支持力度，通过活跃二手车市场促进汽车更新消费。加大新能源汽车支持力度。

China's first hydrogen-powered ship made its maiden voyage in Yichang, Central China’s Hubei Province on Wednesday, marking that the country has made breakthrough in the application of hydrogen fuel cell technology in inland waterway vessels. Named “Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No. 1,” the vessel has a maximum range of 124 kilometers, powered by a 500 kW hydrogen fuel cell. After delivery, it is used for transportation, inspection and emergency response in the Three Gorges reservoir area and between the Three Gorges-Gezhouba dams.
我国首艘氢动力示范船完成首航：10月11日，我国首艘氢燃料电池动力示范船“三峡氢舟1”号在湖北宜昌三峡游客中心（九码头）完成首航，标志氢燃料电池技术在内河船舶应用实现突破。据介绍，“三峡氢舟1”号为钢铝复合结构，总长49.9米、型宽10.4米、型深3.2米，乘客定额80人，主要采用氢燃料电池动力系统，氢燃料电池额定输出功率500千瓦，续航里程可达200公里，交付后用于三峡库区及三峡葛洲坝两坝间交通、巡查、应急等工作。
China's land sales revenue shrank 20 percent in the first three quarters from a year earlier as property developers are increasingly cautious about land acquisitions because of uncertain property market prospects. Income from land sales in Qinghai, Gansu, and Xinjiang provinces more than halved in the first nine months, according to investment bank Minsheng Securities. Revenue in Fujian, Shandong, Hubei, Anhui, Hunan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Guizhou plunged over 40 percent, that in Jilin fell more than 30 percent, and that in Henan, Liaoning, and Shanxi declined over 20 percent. Only Tianjin, Ningxia, Jiangsu, Beijing, and Zhejiang saw income from land sales increase in the first nine months of this year, growing 122 percent, 79 percent, 10 percent, 3 percent, and 1 percent, respectively.

China's Ministry of Finance will issue the third batch of yuan-denominated treasury bonds this year in the Hong Kong SAR later this month, the ministry said on Wednesday. Scheduled for Oct 25, the bonds are worth 16 billion yuan, with another batch of 10 billion yuan coming up later in the quarter, as to increase the total amount of renminbi treasury bonds issued by the ministry to 50 billion yuan in 2023, said the finance ministry.
财政部在港发行160亿元人民币国债：据财政部官网11日消息，经国务院批准，2023年财政部在香港特别行政区发行人民币国债规模增加至500亿元，在第一期、第二期累计发行240亿元基础上，四季度还将分两期分别发行160亿元、100亿元。现定于10月25日通过招标发行第三期人民币国债，具体发行安排将在香港金融管理局债务工具中央结算系统（CMU）公布。

BYD said the Chinese electric vehicle and battery maker has received an order for 2,000 electric buses from Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. BYD and Tashkent will promote the electrification of the city's public transport vehicles, the Chinese firm announced today. The supply deal includes the 12-meter BYD eBus K9UD, with the first 200 units to go into operation next year, it added.

Shares of KE Holdings jumped after China’s biggest real estate agent said it plans to buy home decor firm iSpace Home Technology for up to 1.6 billion yuan. The acquisition of iSpace, expected to be completed in the first half of next year, aims to enrich KE’s home decor brands and products, strengthen its supply chain and delivery capabilities, and enhance customer conversion rates, the realtor announced today.

Hainan Airlines, the only Chinese airline that runs direct flights between Israel and the mainland, adjusted its direct fights schedule for safety concern. Flights between Tel Aviv and Shenzhen will go as scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays from tomorrow until Oct 31, while two round-trip flights between Beijing and Tel Aviv as well as Shanghai and Tel Aviv will be suspended, the carrier said in a statement yesterday. The airline has secured seats for Chinese nationals affected in the Israel-Gaza conflict to be able to return home, it added.

WM Motor, once one of China’s most promising electric car startups, has filed for bankruptcy, a victim of fierce competition in the world’s biggest auto market. A Shanghai court is handling the bankruptcy case, according to a notice posted on the National Enterprise Bankruptcy Information Disclosure Platform. The company said yesterday that the court has accepted its pre-restructuring application. In a statement Tuesday, WM Motor said it will adjust corporate strategy and keep communicating with relevant parties to resolve its financial and debt problems.
威马汽车回应申请破产重整：10日下午，威马汽车官方微博发布告知函称，上海市第三中级人民法院于2023年10月7日受理了威马汽车的预重整申请。10日稍早，全国企业破产重整案件信息网显示，威马汽车被申请破产重整，申请人正是威马汽车自己。威马汽车在告知函中表示，近年来，因受疫情影响，资本市场不景气、原材料价格大幅波动及获取经营发展资金受挫等客观原因影响，威马陷入了经营困境。“但威马不会躺平，更不会倒下，希望通过调整企业战略，解决财务债务问题，获得投资人参与重构和发展等展开积极自救。”
金融市场消息
Multiple international investment banks, including J.P. Morgan, CitiGroup, and Deutsche Bank, have recently raised their growth predictions for China's annual GDP. Thanks to the better-than-expected economic performance in August and policy support, China's GDP growth will be 5 percent this year, up from the firm’s earlier forecast of 4.8 percent, said Zhu Haibin, chief China economist and head of China Economic Research at J.P. Morgan, media reported yesterday. Citigroup also revised its forecast for China's GDP growth this year to 5 percent from 4.7 percent, noting that the retailing and industrial production will likely be improved.
多家外资机构上调中国经济预测：近日，高盛、摩根大通、德意志银行等外资机构陆续发布最新观点，上调中国经济预测值，看好中国股市表现。摩根大通中国首席经济学家兼大中华区经济研究主管朱海斌表示，考虑到8月经济数据好于预期，以及政策支持的逐步传导，他上调了对中国下半年经济增长的预期，预计中国全年经济增长将达到5%。认为零售和工业生产可能改善，花旗银行集团把中国2023年的增长预期上调至5%。
股市收盘情况
Chinese stocks rose on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite adding 0.1 percent and the Shenzhen Component gaining 0.4 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index continued to advance 1.3 percent and the TECH index jumped 2 percent.
A股反弹港股续涨：周三A股大盘全天高开后冲高回落，三大指数均反弹，创业板指领涨。截至收盘，沪指涨0.12%，深成指涨0.35%，创业板指涨0.8%。沪深两市今日成交额8388亿，较上个交易日放量641亿。北向资金全天小幅净卖出3.9亿元，连续4日净卖出。港股恒指继续上扬，恒生指数涨1.29%，恒生科技指数涨2.01%。
